This is what my shack looked like 41 years ago. I put it in the closet next to the washer and dryer (we didn't have a basement). The wife acceptance factor was
good because I could pull a curtain and hide the whole station.
Small but great, I had the Drake Twins and this is the era when I discovered DX.
I built my first beam ever from scrap aluminum following the instructions in Bill Orr's Handbook. I couldn't afford a tower so I put it on the roof of the house. To my amazement I could hear stations I'd never heard before with my verticals and dipoles. Like Australia. I was hooked for life.
